THE PEOPLE

Haji Hafidh Haman is the friendly and skilled director of Eco & Culture Tours. He is born in Jambiani, the village on the east coast of Zanzibar where Villa Biba is situated. He is thus very familiar with all that is happening in the village and he supervises Villa Biba. He lives in Stone town with his family and he is central in all activities occurring around Villa Biba. He has worked with foreigners when he was as supervisor in the fishing industry and with visitors for many years. He is very interested to let visitors experience the wonderful nature and culture of Zanzibar and that this is done in a way that will preserve nature and keep old customs alive. He has gathered a devoted group of people around him in the company. He speaks English and you can trust that he will see to that your stay feels secure and gives you long-lasting memories of pleasure and fascinating meetings with the local people and with the nature of the beautiful island of Zanzibar.
 
Robert Pasiani works for Eco & Culture Tours. He speaks excellent English and has been a guide for several years; he is now the Marketing Manager and Reservation Officer of Eco & Culture Tours. He has a degree in teaching in the sciences and biology and a genuine interest in ecology and in the local culture. He is happy to introduce you into local customs and help you out if you happen to get into problems with understanding the culture and happenings.
 
Rashid Mohamed is a co-worker and assistant Director of Eco & Culture Tours, he also some times guide and speak fluent English and French.  He has also many years experience of working with tourists and with arranging tours. He shares the interest of the others and of the values of the tour company.
 

Villa Biba

Lucie is the house-keeper with ambitions. She supervises the house and takes care of the maintenance. She has a room at Villa Biba in the smaller house and also staff-quarters in a nearby house. Lucie was the cook for the crew who built the house. She comes from the mainland but wants to stay on Zanzibar and in Jambiani. She is eager to improve her English and she goes to classes in English and in tourism given in the village. Lucie is a woman with ambitions who wants a better life for herself and for her two children. She is happy to have the position at Villa Biba and she will do her very best to give you a wonderful stay in Jambiani. Lucie has a mobile phone and you can receive her number.
 
Mwana is one of the best massage-givers in the village. She gives a thorough massage and she is the only massage-lady allowed on the premises. She speaks fluent English and she comes to the house after an appointment. Lucie is the contact-person for this arrangement. You do not have to hesitate to give her directions for how hard or soft a massage you wish to have. Most of the massage-ladies are not educated and the massage given is often of low quality. With Mwana there is a fixed price and you will have it in the privacy of the garden of Villa Biba.
